As the undercurrent pulls me down
Tugging on each toe as I fight to keep my head above water
I gasp one final breath and fall under the waves
Struggling and fighting
Crying out futilely under water, for help
Praying in my mind for a savior
And as the darkness eats at the edges of my vision
I look down
Accept the inevitable
And dive deeper to see what may come
