Sometimes all it takes
Is to pluck a dream from our sleeping minds
Plant and nurture it a little with droplets of reality
And our whole world will appear to be just a little rosier.

Whispered Wail
You cry into your microphone
Pouring droplets into the patch cable
Speakers shudder with anguish
The air heaves with grief
My eardrums quiver in throes of despair
My brain wrenches in distress
My heart melts with sorrow
The tear that started in your eye trickles down my cheek
We no speak Americano
Your arms flail akimbo
Glowsticks clutched in hand flash in time with the strobing lights above
You never come close to hitting me
But the pain is real regardless

Best Friends Forever
We wear our smiles like masks
Hoping they will meld into our faces
That we will feel the expression they convey
We feel euphoria,
The euphoria of friends and laughter,
It feels like an eternity.
I feel great and happy
I feel loved and secure
But it's nothing compared to the giggles I shared with you
Landfill
A dark expression passes over your face
It eclipses the sun
It casts my soul in shadows
Tonight will be filled with violence
Tonight there will be a fight

Lascivious
When you are fast asleep at night,
Secure under blankets and behind locked doors,
We run these streets.
Our feet fall as one, echoing in empty alleys and amongst glass storefronts.
Those that are out at this time scurry into shadows as we appear,
They do not want the trouble we are bringing.
We whisper amongst ourselves,
Devising a plan,
Readying our spirits.
We flex our hands around chains and planks.
Knives hide under our jackets.
For one, a gun hangs from a shoulder holster,
Like a feral bat being rustled rudely from slumber.
We will come for you. And we will get you.
You will yield to us.
Smoulder
My heart slows. The beat shuffles along, struggling. My blood turns to a sweet syrup. My left arm tingles just a bit, like pins and needles on the inside of my elbow. My brain is like a tray once laden with crystal glasses of all sorts of colors and sizes. They like cracked and strewn on the floor around me. My feet are concrete blocks. My eyes retreat from my face. Everything looks like I'm looking at it from the wrong end of a telescope.
But then your eyes stray from me once more, and the sounds of the room fill me once again.
But then your eyes stray from me once more, and the sounds of the room fill me once again.
